30th May 2008, Santa Monica, California. One of Southern California's oldest landmarks, the Santa Monica Pier, showed off a brand new $1.5-million Ferris wheel. With 160,000 LED lights it is 75 percent more energy efficient than the last wheel. The previous wheel, seen in 28 movies, including the current hit "Ironman", was auctioned on Ebay for $132,000.
