15th November 2007, Beware tourists to New York City, a proposed ban on feeding the city's pigeons could carry a US$1000 fine. City Councilman want to introduce legislation to ban pigeon feeding and fine those caught flouting the ban. "If people like pigeons, take them into their homes, feed pigeons in your house and let them crap all over the place in your living rooms." said City Councilman Simcha Felder, who is heading the ban. In London, Mayor Ken Livingstone has banned pigeon feeding in Trafalgar Square, closed down the official feed vendors there, and has sent hawks to infiltrate and scare the lingering pigeons. An attempt to use hawks in Manhattan's Bryant Park a few years ago was scrapped after a hawk attacked a pet Chihuahua.
